Former Minister of State for Science, Technology and Innovation and Abia State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Hon. Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, popularly known as Ozurumba, has commended the Federal Government for providing relief materials to victims of gully erosion and windstorm disasters in Abia State.

Ikoh praised the intervention of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, describing the gesture as evidence of the government’s commitment to supporting citizens affected by disasters and other emergencies.

According to him, the Federal Government’s intervention through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has provided much-needed assistance to affected residents in Ohafia and Umuahia South Local Government Areas.

He said the intervention demonstrated that the Renewed Hope Agenda was translating into practical support for citizens, particularly those facing difficult circumstances.

Victims whose homes and livelihoods were affected by gully erosion and windstorm disasters received various food and non-food items distributed by NEMA.

The relief materials include bags of rice, garri, vegetable oil, mattresses, blankets, mosquito nets, buckets and other essential supplies.

The distribution exercise is ongoing and is targeted at households and communities identified as being among the worst affected by the disasters.

Ikoh urged beneficiaries to use the materials responsibly, while also calling on individuals, organisations and relevant agencies to complement government efforts by providing additional support to disaster victims across Abia State.
