Nigerian Ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has challenged claims that President Bola Tinubu is 90 years old, saying a United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) record lists the President’s date of birth as March 29, 1952.
Omokri made the disclosure during an appearance on the City Boy Movement’s media one-on-one podcast hosted by Otega Ogra, Senior Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Digital and New Media.
According to him, the document, which he said was transmitted through the US Embassy in Lagos to the Nigerian government, contained the outcome of an FBI record check concerning Tinubu.
Omokri said the letter was addressed to the Nigerian government and the then Inspector-General of Police, Tafa Balogun, in response to a February 3, 2003 request concerning Tinubu.
He quoted the document as stating that a search of the FBI National Crime Information Center produced no criminal arrest records, outstanding warrants or other related records against Tinubu.
Omokri argued that the document also contained Tinubu’s date of birth, which he said was recorded as March 29, 1952, thereby contradicting claims that the President is 90 years old.
His comments came after African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, claimed that he had evidence showing that Tinubu is 90 years old.
Atiku had said he would present the alleged evidence before a court.
However, Omokri dismissed the claim, describing the FBI document as a vindication of the President and insisting that the record contradicted the allegation over Tinubu’s age.
