The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspects over alleged illegal possession, fabrication and sale of locally made firearms in Misau Local Government Area of the state.

The command also arrested a 26-year-old man, Lukman Alhaji Nasiru, over the alleged rape of a 50-year-old mentally unstable woman in Gamawa LGA.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday, September 26, 2026, saying the arrests formed part of the command’s efforts to curb illegal arms proliferation and sexual offences across the state.

According to the statement, operatives of the Misau Division on September 25 intercepted Abubakar Ahmad, popularly known as Tino, 30, of Makara Huta Quarters, Misau, allegedly carrying a locally fabricated pistol loaded with a live cartridge.

Following the disclosure, police arrested Kawu, who allegedly confessed to fabricating and selling the pistol to Yakubu for N30,000.

A search of his workshop reportedly led to the recovery of two locally fabricated dane guns and materials allegedly used in firearm production, including a hacksaw, files and long iron pipes.
