The Ebonyi State chapter of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) has accused its 2023 governorship candidate, Comrade Tony Usulor, of allegedly attempting to use the party’s structure to negotiate political relevance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The allegation was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the state chairman of the party, Hon. Ogodo Stanley, on behalf of the state executive officers, stakeholders and members.
The NRM leadership also dismissed claims attributed to Usulor that he had collapsed the party’s structure in Ebonyi State into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to the party, Usulor does not have the authority to unilaterally decide the political direction of the NRM in the state.
The party maintained that its structure remains intact across Ebonyi and that its members and stakeholders were not consulted over any purported move to merge or align the party with the APC.
The development comes as political activities and realignments intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political parties and their members increasingly positioning themselves for the upcoming polls.
