Adeleke Backed Tinubu Before Election Victory, Aide Says

The Osun State Government has called on residents not to view Governor Ademola Adeleke’s endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election as a betrayal.

The governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, made this known while speaking on Arise TV, stressing that Adeleke’s decision to support Tinubu was made public long before the governor’s recent electoral victory.

Rasheed said the endorsement was not influenced by the outcome of the election, noting that Adeleke had already declared his support for Tinubu before the polls.

He explained that the governor’s decision was largely motivated by the need to attract more federal projects and development to Osun State.

According to him, the ongoing construction and rehabilitation of major roads, including the Ilesa-Ibadan Road, Osogbo-Ibadan Road and Gbongan-Osogbo Road, demonstrate some of the benefits of maintaining a working relationship with the Federal Government.

Rasheed maintained that Adeleke’s support for the President was guided by what he considered to be the best interests of the people of Osun State.

He said the governor was focused on securing development opportunities for the state rather than allowing partisan considerations to hinder his administration’s relationship with the Federal Government.

“Mr Governor is only doing the right thing that is in the best interest of Osun people,” Rasheed stated.
