OPay Digital Services Limited has issued a demand to an X user, Cute Hafserh (@haifah_er_abba), over what the company described as a “false, malicious, libellous and defamatory” publication concerning its operations.
In a letter dated August 31, 2026, and signed by the company’s Chief Legal Counsel, Akinfolabi Moses Rokosu, OPay said it was notified of a post allegedly published by Hafserh on August 30 through the X platform.

According to the company, the publication falsely claimed that OPay would be going on an indefinite break and allegedly advised customers to withdraw funds from their accounts maintained with the digital banking platform.
OPay described the claims as false, unlawful, libellous and defamatory, arguing that the publication had caused reputational and commercial damage to the company and adversely affected its business operations.
The company consequently demanded that Hafserh permanently delete the publication and desist from further disseminating or publicising the alleged claims on X or any other platform.
OPay also demanded a clear and unequivocal retraction of the publication, as well as an unreserved apology to the company, with a deadline of 11:59 p.m. WAT on August 31, 2026.
The letter warned that failure to comply would result in legal action, stating that OPay would pursue all available legal remedies over what it described as the damage caused by the publication.
The demand was issued on behalf of OPay Digital Services Limited by its Chief Legal Counsel, Akinfolabi Moses Rokosu.
