President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the successful rescue of 21 Nigerians abducted by criminal elements in Kogi State, including 15 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The victims, comprising eight males and 13 females, were rescued on Sunday afternoon following a coordinated Search and Rescue (SAR) operation conducted by personnel of the military, the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS) and local vigilantes.
According to a statement issued by the President, the abductees were rescued from the kidnappers’ hideout in the forests of Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The rescued victims are currently receiving medical attention before they are reunited with their families.

President Tinubu expressed relief over the development, describing the abductees as innocent and law-abiding Nigerians who had been taken captive by criminal elements.
While commending the security forces for the successful operation, the President said the security agencies would continue their pursuit of the fleeing kidnappers.
He directed the security forces to sustain pressure on criminal elements across the country, stressing that those responsible for the abduction would face the full weight of the law.
Tinubu also vowed that security agencies would investigate and prosecute anyone who aided or facilitated the crime.
“My administration remains committed to ensuring that every Nigerian can travel across our country without fear,” the President said.
He commended the combined Search and Rescue team for their courage and dedication, while appreciating the families and loved ones of the abductees for their patience and understanding throughout the ordeal.
The President further reassured parents and relatives of NYSC members that his administration remains committed to protecting the lives and property of corps members and other Nigerians.
He concluded by appreciating the men and women of Nigeria’s security and intelligence agencies for their service and sacrifice.
