Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has hinted that he may soon step away from music as he shifts his attention towards achieving bigger financial goals.

The singer made the remark while reacting to a post by Nigerian rapper Erigga on X.

Erigga had applauded musicians who did not come from wealthy backgrounds and had to work hard to earn every dollar they made.

“Shoutout to all the musicians who don’t come from family money and had to grind for every single dollar they earn,” Erigga wrote.

Davido, however, disagreed with the sentiment, arguing that coming from a wealthy family does not prevent an artiste from working hard to achieve success.

“No be we say make your pops no guard o. Shoutout to the ones that came from family money and still grind to the top,” Davido responded.

He further dismissed Erigga’s post as “useless motivation” and used strong words against the rapper.

Davido subsequently revealed that he intends to leave the music industry at some point to focus on building his wealth.

“No worry o I go soon leave their music for una go make my billions… then that shit gonna be boring AF,” he stated.

The singer concluded by questioning whether people truly desire a life of poverty, asking, “Deep down, who like poverty?”
