Popular Nigerian content creator and comedian, Prophet Rolex, has apologized to individuals who allegedly lost money after using the visa processing services of TMT Travels and Tours.
The apology followed public criticism over his previous role as a brand ambassador for the company, owned by Ifeanyi Onukwubiri, who is currently facing allegations of defrauding visa applicants.
Reacting to the controversy, Prophet Rolex appealed to the alleged victims to forgive him, saying he had no knowledge that the situation would eventually escalate.
“Please, to all the victims of the TMT visa scam, forgive me. I had no idea the whole issue would turn out this way. However, since the matter is currently with security operatives, I’m sure you will get your money back,” he said.
The comedian explained that his relationship with TMT Travels and Tours was limited to an ambassadorial arrangement and that he had no involvement in the company’s day-to-day operations.
According to him, his ambassadorial contract with the travel agency ran from 2022 to 2024, and he stopped associating with the company after becoming aware of the allegations surrounding its visa services.
His comments come amid growing public concern over reports that security agencies are investigating complaints from several individuals who allegedly paid TMT Travels and Tours for visa processing services.
Prophet Rolex had previously promoted the travel agency as its brand ambassador, with reports indicating that his endorsement deal was renewed in 2023 following an earlier partnership.
The controversy has renewed discussions about the responsibility of celebrities and influencers who endorse businesses, particularly companies offering financial or immigration-related services.
