Nigerian fuel retailer MRS has increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, by N85 per litre in Abuja and surrounding areas.

A market survey by DAILY POST on Saturday showed that MRS adjusted its petrol price from N1,310 to N1,395 per litre.

The latest adjustment represents an N85 increase and comes shortly after Dangote Refinery raised its petrol gantry price by the same margin, from N1,265 to N1,350 per litre.

The refinery attributed the adjustment to rising international crude oil prices, which have climbed above $100 per barrel.

MRS and other filling station operators had previously increased petrol prices, with pump prices ranging between N1,310 and N1,350 per litre in parts of Abuja.

Following the latest adjustment by MRS, motorists and other consumers in Abuja and its environs are now paying between N1,345 and N1,395 per litre, depending on the filling station.

The latest development is expected to further increase pressure on motorists and households already grappling with rising transportation and living costs.

At the time of reporting, Brent crude was trading at about $104 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) stood at approximately $100 per barrel.
