Former West Ham goalkeeper Ludek Miklosko has died at the age of 64 following a prolonged battle with cancer.
West Ham United confirmed the former goalkeeper’s death in a post on X on Monday morning, prompting tributes from the football community.
Miklosko enjoyed a distinguished spell with the London club, making nearly 400 appearances between 1990 and 1998 after joining from Czech side Banik Ostrava.
During his time at West Ham, the Czech goalkeeper played a key role in the club’s promotion campaigns, helping the Hammers secure promotion to the English top flight in 1991 and again in 1993.
Miklosko was diagnosed with cancer in 2021 and announced in 2024 that he had decided to stop further cancer treatment.
His death marks the loss of one of West Ham’s notable goalkeepers, with the club and its supporters mourning a player who made a lasting contribution during his eight-year spell at Upton Park.
