Nigeria’s Falconets head coach, Moses Aduku, says his players are fully prepared for their opening fixture against Spain at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The Falconets will begin their Group F campaign against Spain in Sosnowiec, Poland, on Monday, September 7.
Nigeria concluded its pre-tournament preparations with a 1-1 draw against South Korea in a friendly played on Tuesday afternoon.
The result came after the Falconets recorded a 1-0 victory over hosts Poland in another warm-up match in Brzeg last Friday.
Aduku expressed satisfaction with his team’s performances in both friendly encounters, saying the players are in good physical condition ahead of the tournament.
“So far, so good. We are done with our friendly games, and for me, we are good. There are no injury worries, and my girls are ready. Therefore, we’re waiting for the 7th against Spain,” Aduku told NFF media.
Commenting on the draw against South Korea, the coach admitted that his side missed opportunities that could have secured victory but acknowledged the quality of their opponents.
“For me, the game was so good. We lost one or two scoring chances to win the game, but all the same, I respect the Korean team. They are also a good side,” he said.
Aduku said the Falconets have now shifted their attention to Spain and will approach the competition one match at a time.
“Yes, we are ready. That’s why we are in Poland. We are here to take one game at a time, and we have no other game but to play against Spain. So, we are ready,” he added.
The Falconets will be aiming for a strong start to their World Cup campaign when they face Spain in their opening Group F encounter.
