Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has approved the constitution of the Abia State Labour Party Governorship Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The council, announced in a press release signed by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, on Friday, October 2, 2026, will be headed by Governor Otti as Chairman, with Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu as Vice Chairman.
Rt. Hon. Agwu U. Agwu has been appointed Director-General of the campaign council, while other key appointments include Dr. Eric Egwuibe as Director of Finance, Dr. Chibuzor Obiesili as Director of Strategy/Planning, and Kelechi Nwaiwu, SAN, as Director of Legal.
Barr. Onyebuchi Ememanka will serve as Director of Publicity, while Dr. Christian Anokwuru and retired AIG Arungwa Nwazue will serve as Directors of Special Duties and Security respectively.
The campaign structure also includes coordinators for Abia Central, Abia North and Abia South, alongside coordinators for the state’s 24 state constituencies.
The council is scheduled to be inaugurated on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 12 noon at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia.
